Equinox Collaboration

My first photoshoot since I moved out west! Inspired by my Equinox trend report.

My intention for this look was to bring back the fullness of Patricks curls. I did this by adding strength to his ends with scissors, creating bold outlines. I knew I could add really heavy lines and still maintain a soft appearance because his natural texture is so playful. My approach with his color was very organic. I let his waves tell me where to place shadows and where to place high shine. I blurred the contrast with an auburn color, mimicking golden hour sunlight. I love how the color dances, different at every glance. The entire look is so wearable yet so interesting. A great example of how you can make a trend uniquely yours.

Styling his hair started at the shampoo bowl using Hairstory’s New Wash. This is a cleansing cream. It is extremely gentle, free of harsh detergents and really sets you up for your hair to be its most natural self. Think “oil cleanser” but for your hair instead of skin. On clean damp hair I then applied Hairstory Hair Balm* and Undressed* evenly throughout the hair. I then used a Mason Pearson Brush and blow dried using a flat wrapping technique. The cut, dual bristle brush, and head shape allow me to stretch and smooth his waves without loosing the curl pattern all together. Resulting in bouncy, workable waves.

*Hair Balm is a moisturizing, workable cream that is lightweight. It can be applied on wet hair and will air dry with no crunch or greasy residues. You can smooth and separate your ends by using it on dry hair as well.

*Undressed is a very pliable, workable hairspray. I love it to set curls or for a bouncy blowout. It doesn’t dry crunchy, you cannot over use it. You can refresh your curls for days after you wash. Dry hair, wet hair, air dry, blow dry, doesn’t matter! This is a TOP FAV of mine.
